It’s been awhile since we’ve been to a beach and this year we wanted to head somewhere where it was only a day’s drive away! It was then that we decided to head to Myrtle Beach. We stayed at the Marriott Resort in North Myrtle Beach. Since we just had a hotel room, we mostly at cereal in the room for breakfast, ate at the resort for lunch and went out for dinner nightly.
Now back to the fun at the resort! We went to the beach/pool everyday (located right on the resort) made sandcastles, swam in the ocean and participated in kid activities at the resort. Since we were there over 4th of July weekend, my youngest daughter made bracelets, did sand art and got her face painted. They also had a band at the pool (on 4th of July) and a guy on stilts made balloon art for the kids!
We also left the resort and went to do some jet skiing! We had to ride tandem since only licensed drivers could drive the jet skiis! I wasn’t very good at handling the jet ski’s and my son said that I was “putting his life on the line!” Really? I never made it past 30mph!
In the evenings, we left the resort for dinner nightly and we also found an activity to do nightly. We went out every night to eat but my favorite place to eat and I highly recommend is Fiesta Mexicana. This place serves authentic Mexican food and it is the best table side guacamole that I have ever tasted! I ordered the Fiesta soup and it was fantastic! We also went to Broadway at the Beach. (good place for dinner, shops and entertainment) There are also many places to do mini-golf too. (We did two nights of mini-golf)
One night we went to the Broadway Grand Prix which included go-kart racing, arcade, concessions and mini-golf. My youngest and oldest didn’t care for it much (too much bumping even though you are not supposed to do that) so we wound up doing mini-golf. My husband and middle daughter LOVED the adrenaline rush of the racing and did every race course. The lines can be long at times. TIP: head over there just after it rains because the lines are shorter, which is exactly what we did! The race courses they enjoyed the most were the Grand Prix Pro Track and Speed Racer!
I have to say that the kids favorite night had to be shooting fireworks on the beach on 4th of July! Since we live in Ohio we can’t launch fireworks so it was a really a special memory that my kids will never forget!
