Finally….a lunch deal that offers delicious flavorful food! The aroma of Mediterranean spices hits you as you swing open the door to the cafe. I took in the smells and I knew this was going to be heaven on a plate. Lavash Cafe was a happening place with the Clintonville lunch crowd! Lots of choices on the menu, in fact I had to hold myself back from just ordering a gyro. I love comparing gyros at different places. I narrowed my choice down to a sandwich so I wouldn’t fall asleep at my desk when I returned to work. Let’s see, Shawarma, Gyro, Kabob….wait…KEFTA. Kefta is the Greek version of a meatball. Oh lord, for the love of meatballs that was the sandwich I picked! The Kefta came with a spicy dipping sauce that had a very late kick. My nose was running the sauce was so spicy! The Kefta has the perfect combo of flavors from lamb and beef and was dressed with tahini sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. I was a few bites in and I said I am coming back here. While I was in Kefta heaven, my friend was enjoying a vegetarian dish called Mojadara. The Mojadara is a rice and lentils base topped with caramelized onions and fresh salad.
Lavash was easy on the budget and had amazing menu choices. The Cafe was clean and well managed. The food was like I had thought…”Heaven on a Plate”.
