For Labor Day this year, we decided to go to Kings Island for the day! We arrived shortly after opening (around 10:20 am), got our tickets and immediately went to the Fast Lane line to purchase wristbands. (Located to the left after going through the front gates) The benefit of Fast Lane Plus is that you wait less time to ride the coasters. Fast Lane prices can change daily. (think more expensive on the weekends) Also, with Fast Passes you cannot buy them online the day you are planning to visit so you will have to purchase them at the park. This year, my husband and my two older kids got the “Fast Lane Plus” which includes all coasters AND Banshee, The Beast, Firehawk and Flight of Fear. New this year, it also included four rides in Soak City water park as well.
Since my youngest daughter (8 years old) and I didn’t buy Fast Lane passes, we decided to separate. We headed toward Planet Snoopy and rode her first mini coaster, The Flying Aerial Chase. She said it was fun and a “little scary.” I realized quickly that she had really outgrown the Planet Snoopy so we rode some of the small rides like The Monster and The Zepher. Then it was finally time for her to ride a big coaster. I thought it would be good for her to start with “The Racer.” Since The Racer is “hidden” from the riders to see and starts off slow, my daughter said “this isn’t very fast, why are we going up so high?” I said, “You better hang on to the bar because it we are going to drop once we get to the top!” The look on her face was priceless and she said at the end, “That was so scary!” She had fun but was a little hesitant to ride another coaster anytime soon.
On our way to Soak City to cool off from the heat, we noticed a petting zoo called Barnyard Friends in the Planet Snoopy area. Goats, pigs, and lambs that you could touch inside the petting zoo! In the Barnyard Friends area, there was a section for goats, llamas, miniature horses, donkey, chickens and you can buy feed for a $1! After visiting the animals, it was time for us to head to Soak City. It is really nice that water park is included in your admission price! We spent another 2 hours there and then headed back to the park to ride some coasters during the last hour. My husband and two daughters rode “The Bat” while my son and I took advantage of the “Dollar Days” $1 ice cream promotion. (Sept 2-5, pizza, soft drinks, ice cream, cotton candy were $1) and we got the blue ice cream cones for $1! My son said that his favorite ride was The Flight of Fear and my middle daughter said her favorite was the Banshee. All in all, they rode the roller coasters multiple times so the Fast Lane passes were worth it!
Full Disclosure: Social Moms Around Columbus were given general admission tickets to the park. We purchased Fast Lane Passes ourselves; as always, opinions are on our own!
