In 2007, Steve and Laura Cox realized that the way we were raising our kids had changed dramatically. We went from a world where kids spent hours at free play with their neighborhood friends to a world where the majority of our kid’s activities were scheduled and structured. The challenge was that the youth sports community had not kept up with these dramatic changes. Youth leagues continued to be organizationally challenged and often less focused on the kids than parents were comfortable with. Steve and Laura recognized the opportunity and i9 Sports was born.
Today, i9 Sports serves over 5,000 kids annually with youth sports leagues focused to fun, being inclusive, and teaching lessons in sportsmanship. For parents, i9 Sports offers convenience with practices and games on the same day, allowing for a one-day per week commitment. Time starved families get time back for more family time, or for the kids to be involved in other activities. i9 Sports is also highly organized with an interactive web site, allowing for convenient online registration, great communication before the season starts, and during the season, and an organized approach to game days that dramatically lowers stress levels for busy parents.
i9 Sports offers flag football, soccer, t-ball/baseball, and basketball for kids ages 3-14 in Westerville, northern Columbus, Lewis Center, Powell, Delaware, and Dublin. All leagues are recreational, so everybody plays and plays equally. For our older kids, we do keep score as teaching kids to win well and lose well is important, but the focus is more on the fun than the score.
