Back in June, I was scrolling through our Social Moms Around Columbus Instagram account and noticed that we had been following Get Caked by Stacy on Instagram. She had been designing the coolest cakes that I’d ever seen. (X box video console cake, monogrammed flip flops, cupcakes, etc.) It was at that point that I decided to see if she would be interested in making a custom cake for my daughter. We had started emailing each other and told her that my daughter would be turning 11 in July. I was looking for her to design a “sports” cake for about 20 people. I told her my daughter played soccer, basketball and track. Stacy said that she would do to do a half soccer/half basketball cake with a track around it. She also asked me what cake flavors I would for the cake. My choices were Vanilla and vanilla almond (which Stacy said are her most popular), followed by white and chocolate, marble, strawberry etc. (All are with buttercream icing) My daughter decided on vanilla and chocolate for her cake.
On the day of her birthday, Stacy came to my house to deliver it personally. She arrived with a soccer and basketball cake balls stacked on top of one another! She said when she started on the cake, she decided against the sheet cake and wanted to make the balls instead. (Stacy told me that she is a self-taught baker and does this in addition to her day job!) I have to say that I was AMAZED! The details of the grass, the basketball net and her putting her soccer number jersey really added to the personalization of the cake. I didn’t even want to cut it because it really was a piece of art! (My daughter took one look at the cake and her mouth dropped!)
Everyone that came over for the party complimented on how great it looked. Next question: how did it taste? I tasted both vanilla and chocolates pieces and both were sweet, flavorful and delicious. BUT if I had to choose one, I would have picked the chocolate flavor. (I LOVE chocolate!) So next time you are looking for someone to create a custom cake for you, contact Stacy at Get Caked by Stacy or email at email@example.com.
Full Disclosure: Social Moms Around Columbus was compensated for the cake in exchange for a blog post-as always opinions are our own!
