Excited to bring this new Farm-To-Table location to my readers! I was tipped off by a friend to check out ACRE which is located on the corner of High Street and Arcadia. I met my friend for lunch and was glad that ACRE had ample parking.
The inside of ACRE has a minimalist feel to it with lots of unique wooden decor. The menu was very basic and offered choices of salads, wraps, bowls, tacos, snacks and desserts. All the menu items start with the idea of a base of fresh produce and spices and then you may choose to add chicken, tofu, pork or quinoa.
I ordered the Mole Wrap with chicken. The Mole Wrap had a base of roasted red peppers, avocado, pickled cabbage, onions and mole sauce. Typically I do not care for pickled food but I decided to give this a try! The wrap was a large portion size and could easily be shared. I was pleasantly surprised about the pickled cabbage with the combination of the mole sauce. The two ingredients gave the wrap a “bite”. Ingredients were fresh and the chicken was tender. Only downfall was there was too much mole sauce and it overpowered the other flavors.
The great thing about meeting a friend for lunch is you get to try what they ordered too! My friend ordered the Thai bowl with tofu. I absolutely despise tofu. It’s so creepy. As for the other ingredients in the Thai bowl the Curried Cauliflower was the bomb!
As for dessert we shared the Sweet Corn Cookie. This cookie was so different. Think cornbread, creamed sweet corn and corn pudding meets the mixer enters the oven and pops out the most delicious cookie. SERIOUSLY, please go order one!
